Directions

In the following question assuming the given statements to be true, find which of the conclusion among given conclusions is/are definitely true and then give your answers accordingly.

Statements: A ≥ D = E; M < N = E; A ≤ P

Conclusions:

I. P > D

II. M < D

III. E > N

  1. AOption (a)

    Only II is true

  2. BOption (b)

  4. DOption (d)

    None is true

  5. EOption (e)

Either II or III is true

View answer & explanation

Correct answer

Answer: (a)A.

Only II is true

Why this answer is correct

Given

Statements:

A ≥ D = E; M < N = E; A ≤ P

On combining: P ≥ A ≥ D = E = N > M

I. P > D → False (as P ≥ A ≥ D)

II. M < D → True (as D = E = N > M → M < D)

III. E > N → False (as E = N)

Thus, the only conclusion II is true.

Question 1027

SBI Probationary Officer (PO) 2021• Reasoning Ability• Reasoning Ability

Which of the following symbols should be placed in the blank spaces respectively (in the same order from left to right) in order to complete the given expression in such a manner that “G > V” and “F ≥ W” definitely holds true?

F _ G _ W _ V

  1. AOption (a)

    <, ≥, <

  2. BOption (b)

    ≥, <, =

  3. COption (c)

    <, >, =

  4. DOption (d)

    =, ≥, >

  5. EOption (e)

    None of the above

View answer & explanation

Correct answer

Answer: (d)D.

=, ≥, >

Why this answer is correct

Let us check each option:

  1. F < G ≥ W < V → G > V (false) and F ≥ W (false).

  2. F ≥ G < W = V → G > V (false as V > G) and F ≥ W (false).

  3. F < G > W = V → G > V (true) and F ≥ W (false).

  4. F = G ≥ W > V → G > V (true) and F ≥ W (true).

Hence, the correct sequence of symbols to satisfy the given condition is “=, ≥, >”.

In the following question assuming the given statements to be True, find which of the conclusion among given conclusions is/are definitely true and then give your answers accordingly.

Statements: X < M ≤ W; B ≥ L ≥ O; O = X

Conclusions:

I. B > M

II. M ≥ B

III. L < W

  1. AOption (a)

    Only III is True

  2. BOption (b)

Both I and III are True

  3. COption (c)

Either I or II is True

  4. DOption (d)

Both II and III are True

  5. EOption (e)

    Only II is True

View answer & explanation

Correct answer

Answer: (c)C.

Either I or II is True

Why this answer is correct

Given

Statements:

X < M ≤ W; B ≥ L ≥ O; O = X

On combining: B ≥ L ≥ O = X; W ≥ M > O = X

Conclusions:

I. B > M → False (B ≥ L ≥ O and M > O → relation between B and M cannot be determined.)

II. M ≥ B → False (B ≥ L ≥ O and M > O → relation between B and M cannot be determined.)

III. L < W → False (L ≥ O and W ≥ M > O → relation between L and W can’t be determined.)

None of the conclusions are true but conclusions I and II form a complementary pair.

Thus, either conclusion I or conclusion II is true.

Answer: (a)A.

One

Why this answer is correct

  1. Neha sits fourth from one of the extreme ends.
