About CTET & TET Exams
Teaching exams in India include CTET (Central Teacher Eligibility Test), state TETs (like UPTET, STET, HTET), and KVS/NVS/DSSSB teacher recruitment exams. CTET, conducted by CBSE, is mandatory for teaching Classes I–VIII in Kendriya Vidyalayas, Navodaya Vidyalayas, and central government schools. State TETs are required for state government schools.
Exam Pattern
CTET has two papers: Paper I (for Classes I–V teachers, 150 MCQs/150 marks/2.5 hrs) covering Child Development, Language I & II, Mathematics, Environmental Studies; and Paper II (for Classes VI–VIII, 150 MCQs/150 marks/2.5 hrs) covering Child Development, Language I & II, and a subject-specific paper (Maths/Science or Social Studies).
Preparation Tips
- Child Development & Pedagogy carries 30 marks in both papers — master it completely as it's highly scoring.
- Language sections reward candidates who read regularly; build vocabulary and grammar consistency.
- The qualifying mark is 60% (90/150) for general category; plan your preparation accordingly.
- Solve 5 years of CTET PYQs — the question style is predictable and many concepts repeat.
