The written examination has 150 objective questions in 2 hours, split into Part I — General Studies (30 questions) and Part II — Subject Concerned (120 questions). A 1/3 negative marking penalty applies to both parts.
UPSESSB has used both a 150-mark scheme (1 mark per question) and a 300-mark scheme (2 marks per question) across different recruitment cycles — the negative-marking ratio stays the same (1/3) either way. Confirm which scheme applies from your specific notification.
General Studies is 30 of the 150 questions — a fifth of the paper — with the remaining 120 devoted to the subject you are applying to teach. Subject depth is what mainly decides your score.
A graduation degree in the relevant subject from a recognised university, plus a B.Ed degree from an NCTE-approved institution. Age 21 to 40 years, with relaxations for reserved categories.
