RSMSSB Lab Assistant Preparation Guide

RSMSSB's Lab Assistant recruitment splits evenly between Rajasthan-specific general knowledge and your science subject — two full-length papers, each worth as much as the other.

Exam Pattern

Two papers of 200 questions/200 marks each (400 marks total), 2 hours per paper: Paper I is General Knowledge of Rajasthan, and Paper II is the concerned Science subject. Each carries 1/3rd negative marking.

Preparation Strategy

1. Give both papers equal preparation time: Since they're equally weighted, don't let subject-matter confidence in Paper II crowd out Paper I preparation.
2. Build deep Rajasthan-specific General Knowledge: Paper I leans heavily on state geography, history and polity — national-level GK material under-covers this.
3. Confirm your exact Paper II subject stream early: RSMSSB recruits Lab Assistants across multiple science streams (Physics/Chemistry/Biology or Geography, depending on the post) — prepare the syllabus for your specific stream, not a generic "science" compilation.
4. Respect the 1/3rd negative marking on both papers: Guess only when you can eliminate at least one option.
5. Maintain Hindi (Devanagari) reading fluency: The exam requires comfort reading Hindi in Devanagari script — factor this into your practice if it isn't already second nature.
6. Practise each paper under its own 2-hour timer: The two papers are separately timed — structure your mock practice the same way.
