RPSC School Lecturer Preparation Guide
RPSC's School Lecturer (1st Grade Teacher) exam is heavily weighted toward your subject — Paper II alone carries two-thirds of the total marks — while Paper I anchors you in Rajasthan-specific general studies.
Exam Pattern
Two papers for the School Education variant: Paper I (100 questions, 100 marks) covers General Studies of Rajasthan; Paper II (150 questions, 300 marks) covers the Subject Concerned. Each paper runs 2.5 hours, with 1/3rd negative marking.
Other posts under the same recruitment (e.g. Physical Education) use a different marks split — confirm your specific post's pattern in the current notification.
Preparation Strategy
- Put the Subject Concerned first: At 300 of 450 total marks, Paper II decides most of your result — work from graduation-level and secondary/senior-secondary syllabus material for your subject.
- Build Rajasthan-specific general studies deliberately: Paper I leans on state history, culture, geography and current affairs — national-level GK material under-covers this.
- Don't neglect Educational Psychology in Paper I: It's a named, distinct topic worth dedicated preparation rather than being folded into general GK study.
- Respect the 1/3rd negative marking on both papers: Guess only when you can eliminate at least one option.
- Include teaching methods for your subject: Paper II explicitly tests pedagogy for the subject, not just content knowledge — don't treat it as a pure subject-matter exam.
- Practise both papers under their own 2.5-hour timer: Each paper is separately timed — pacing practice should match that structure exactly.
