There are two written papers. Paper I is General Knowledge — 50 questions for 200 marks in 1 hour. Paper II is the Subject Concerned — 150 questions for 600 marks in 3 hours. Both are followed by an interview worth 100 marks.
No official source confirms negative marking for either written paper, so treat both as pure positive-marking exams and attempt every question you can make a reasoned guess on.
Paper II (Subject Concerned) is worth three times as much as Paper I — 600 marks versus 200 — and takes three hours against Paper I's one. Subject depth is what actually decides selection; General Knowledge is a smaller, faster-to-clear component.
A Master's degree in the relevant subject with at least 55% marks. NET, SET, or a Ph.D. may be required for specific subjects per the notification — check the requirement for your subject before applying.
Candidates must be at least 21 years old and not exceed 40 years, with relaxations for SC/ST, OBC, Madhya Pradesh-domicile women, and PwD candidates as per state government rules.
