The Preliminary examination has 100 objective questions to be answered in 90 minutes, covering Mathematics, General Studies, English, Odia, Computer and Logical Reasoning. Candidates who clear it sit the Main written examination of 180 questions for 180 marks. Both stages deduct 0.33 marks for each wrong answer.
One-third (0.33) of the marks for a question is deducted for every incorrect answer, in both the Preliminary and Main examinations. Three wrong answers therefore cancel one correct answer, which makes disciplined attempting more valuable than raw coverage.
No — the Practical Skill Test in Basic Computer Skills is qualifying only. However, a minimum of 40% is required to pass it, so it cannot be ignored. Candidates who clear the written stages are still eliminated here if they have not practised basic computer operations.
The Odia language section is a distinct 15-question block in the Preliminary paper and a full subject in the Mains, and Odisha-specific general knowledge appears within General Studies. Together this makes state-focused preparation a substantial part of the exam rather than an afterthought.
