SSC Selection Post (CPO) Guide 2026

Overview

The SSC CPO (Central Police Organization) exam is conducted by the Staff Selection Commission (SSC) for recruiting candidates for the post of Sub-Inspector (SI) in Delhi Police and Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) such as BSF, CISF, CRPF, ITBP, and SSB.

Exam Pattern

The selection process consists of four stages:

1. Paper I (Objective)

  • Mode: Computer Based Examination (CBT)
  • Duration: 120 minutes
  • Sections:
    • General Intelligence and Reasoning (50 questions)
    • General Knowledge and General Awareness (50 questions)
    • Quantitative Aptitude (50 questions)
    • English Comprehension (50 questions)

2. Physical Standard Test (PST)/ Physical Endurance Test (PET)

Qualifying in nature.

3. Paper II (Objective)

  • Mode: Computer Based Examination (CBT)
  • Sections: English Language & Comprehension (200 questions)
  • Duration: 120 minutes

4. Detailed Medical Examination (DME)

Detailed Syllabus

Paper I - Sections

  • General Intelligence and Reasoning: Analogy, Similarities and Differences, Space Visualization, Spatial Orientation, Problem Solving, Analysis, Judgment, Decision Making, Visual Memory, Discrimination, Observation, Relationship Concepts, Arithmetical Reasoning and Figural Classification, Arithmetic Number Series, Non-verbal Series, etc.
  • General Knowledge and General Awareness: Current Events, History, Culture, Geography, Economic Scene, General Polity, Indian Constitution, Scientific Research, etc.
  • Quantitative Aptitude: Computation of Whole Numbers, Decimals, Fractions and Relationships between Numbers, Percentages, Ratio and Proportion, Square Roots, Averages, Interest, Profit and Loss, Discount, Partnership Business, Mixture and Alligation, Time and Distance, Time and Work, Algebra, Geometry, Mensuration, Trigonometry, Statistical Charts.
  • English Comprehension: Candidates' ability to understand correct English, basic comprehension and writing ability, etc.

Marking Scheme (Paper I)

  • Correct Answer: +1 Mark
  • Negative Marking: -0.25 Marks for each wrong answer.
  • Unanswered: 0 Marks.

Preparation Strategy

  1. Physical Fitness: Since PET/PST is mandatory, start physical training early.
  2. Quantitative Aptitude and Reasoning: Practice regularly to improve speed and accuracy.
  3. General Awareness: Focus on Current Affairs and Static GK.
  4. English: Improve reading comprehension and grammar for both Paper I and Paper II.
