Overview
The RRB NTPC exam is conducted by the Railway Recruitment Boards (RRBs) under the Indian Railways to fill thousands of vacancies in Non-Technical Popular Categories — posts that form the operational and administrative backbone of Indian Railways. NTPC is one of the largest single recruitment exercises in the world by the number of applicants (80–100 lakh+ applicants in each cycle).

Stage 3: Skill Tests (Post-Specific)
CBAT (Computer-Based Aptitude Test) — Station Master, Traffic Assistant
- Tests spatial reasoning, memory, concentration, and perception using specialised modules.
- Qualifying in nature — marks are NOT added to merit.
- Candidates who fail CBAT are NOT eligible for SM/TA posts even if they cleared CBT 2.
Typing Skill Test — Junior Clerk, Account Clerk, Trains Clerk
- English Typing: 30 words per minute
- Hindi Typing: 25 words per minute
- Also qualifying in nature; no marks added to merit.

General Intelligence & Reasoning

Phase-Wise Preparation Strategy
Phase 1 (Months 1–3): Fundamentals
- Complete Mathematics NCERT Class 10 fully. Solve 50 Quant questions daily using topic-wise sets.
- Complete Reasoning chapter-wise from any standard book (RS Aggarwal or MK Pandey).
- Start Current Affairs: Read a monthly capsule (GK Today or Adda247). Target 60–70% score in GA from day 1.
Phase 2 (Months 4–6): Stage-Specific Preparation
- Switch to RRB NTPC previous year papers (last 5 years minimum).
- Practise 5 CBT 1 mocks per week, focusing on accuracy over speed initially.
