The written exam has 160 objective questions worth 400 marks, attempted in 2 hours: General Hindi, Basic Law/Constitution & General Knowledge, Numerical Ability, and Mental Aptitude/Reasoning — 40 questions and 100 marks each. Each correct answer is worth 2.5 marks.
No. There is no negative marking in the UP Police SI written examination, so attempting every question carries no risk beyond the time it costs you.
Yes — candidates must score at least 35% marks in each individual section and 50% overall to be considered for the next stage, so a single very weak section can disqualify an otherwise strong overall score.
A bachelor's degree from a recognised university. Age must be 21–28 years for general candidates, with relaxation to 31 for OBC and 33 for SC/ST candidates. Physical standards for height and chest/weight apply at the later Physical Standard Test stage.
Candidates who clear the written test move to Document Verification and the Physical Standard Test (PST), then the Physical Efficiency Test (PET — a timed run), and post-specific Computer Typing or Shorthand tests where applicable, before the final merit list.
