MP Police Constable Preparation Guide
The Madhya Pradesh Police Constable recruitment runs a 100-mark written test followed by physical testing. The single most important fact about the written paper is that it has no negative marking — which should change how you attempt it compared with most other government exams.
Exam Pattern
100 objective questions, 1 mark each, in 120 minutes. That is a comfortable 72 seconds per question — unusually generous, so the paper rewards accuracy and coverage rather than raw speed.
Subject areas covered:
- General Knowledge and Logical Reasoning
- Intellectual Ability and Mental Aptitude
- Science and Simple Arithmetic
No marks are deducted for a wrong answer.
Preparation Strategy
- Never leave a question blank: With no negative marking, an unattempted question and a wrong one score exactly the same — zero. Attempting all 100 is strictly better than attempting 85, so plan your time to reach the end of the paper and mark your best guess on everything you cannot solve.
- Make Madhya Pradesh GK a priority: State-specific general knowledge — MP history, geography, districts, tribes, culture, schemes, and current affairs — is reliably asked and is the area a candidate from outside the state's coaching ecosystem most often under-prepares. It is pure recall, so it is also the fastest section to answer.
- Use the generous time on arithmetic: At 72 seconds per question you can afford to actually work through percentage, ratio, average, profit and loss, and time and work problems rather than pattern-matching them. Practise for correctness first and let speed follow.
- Drill reasoning to reflex: Analogies, series, coding-decoding, blood relations and direction sense are formulaic once recognised. Getting these to near-instant recall is what frees time for the arithmetic and GK sections.
- Train physically alongside the written prep: The Physical Efficiency and Measurement Tests are qualifying stages that eliminate candidates who cleared the written paper. Running and fitness practice needs to start during written preparation, not after the result.
- Sit full 120-minute mocks: Practise complete 100-question papers in one sitting to build the stamina the real exam needs, then review every wrong answer to separate genuine knowledge gaps from careless errors.
