DSSSB Jail Warder Preparation Guide

DSSSB's Jail Warder exam splits 200 questions evenly across five subjects — no single area dominates, so consistent preparation across all five matters more than specialising in one.

Exam Pattern

200 objective questions worth 200 marks, attempted in 2 hours, with 40 questions each in General Awareness, General Intelligence & Reasoning, Arithmetical & Numerical Ability, Hindi and English. Each wrong answer costs 0.25 marks.

Preparation Strategy

1. Prepare all five subjects to a similar standard: With exactly 40 questions per subject, no single area can compensate for a weak one the way it can in unevenly-weighted exams.
2. Respect the 0.25 negative marking: Guess only when you can eliminate at least one option.
3. Practise Arithmetic at a clerical-exam level: Basic numerical ability, not advanced mathematics, is what this section tests.
4. Build bilingual comfort in Hindi and English: Both language sections are scored separately — strength in one doesn't substitute for the other.
5. Keep General Awareness current and broad: Static GK plus recent current affairs, without narrowing to just one type of news.
6. Time yourself at 36 seconds a question: 200 questions in 120 minutes leaves no room for a slow section — full-length timed mocks build the needed pace.
