AIIMS BSc Nursing Preparation Guide
The AIIMS B.Sc. (Hons.) Nursing entrance test is a single, straightforward CBT — but its negative marking and reliance on Class 12 PCB content mean consistent accuracy across three years of syllabus matters more than last-minute cramming.
Exam Pattern
100 objective questions worth 100 marks, attempted in 2 hours, covering Physics, Chemistry, Biology and General Knowledge, entirely in English. Each correct answer earns 1 mark; each wrong answer costs 1/3rd of a mark.
Preparation Strategy
- Weight Biology heaviest, but don't skip Physics and Chemistry: Biology typically carries the largest share of PCB-based entrance exams, but Physics and Chemistry together still make up a meaningful portion — a common mistake is over-indexing on Biology and losing easy marks elsewhere.
- Revise the full NCERT Class 11–12 syllabus, not just Class 12: Entrance-level PCB questions routinely draw on Class 11 foundational topics — skipping straight to Class 12 revision leaves gaps.
- Respect the 1/3rd negative marking: Guess only when you can eliminate at least one option — indiscriminate guessing across 100 questions adds up against you.
- Build a dedicated General Knowledge routine: Unlike Physics/Chemistry/Biology, GK isn't covered by your school syllabus — a consistent daily current-affairs habit is the only reliable way to prepare it.
- Practise full-length mocks under timed conditions: 100 questions in 120 minutes leaves little room for a slow start — build the habit of pacing yourself section by section rather than question by question.
- Prepare for the medical fitness requirement early: Admission is contingent on meeting AIIMS's medical fitness standards, verified at admission time — address any known health considerations well before counselling.
Sectional Notes
Physics — Class 11–12 level mechanics, optics, electricity and modern physics.
Chemistry — Class 11–12 level physical, organic and inorganic chemistry.
Biology — Class 11–12 level botany and zoology, with an emphasis on human physiology.
General Knowledge — Current affairs and general awareness, not covered by the school PCB syllabus.
