Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about the JEE Advanced exam structure, eligibility requirements, rules, and timelines.
JEE Advanced consists of two compulsory papers, Paper 1 and Paper 2, each 3 hours long and carrying 180 marks (360 marks total). Paper 1 has 48 questions and Paper 2 has 54 questions, split roughly equally across Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics, each subject worth 60 marks per paper.
Yes, but it varies by question type instead of being a single fixed rule. Single-correct-answer questions typically carry +3 for a correct answer and -1 for a wrong one. Multiple-correct-answer questions award partial marks for partially correct selections (e.g. +1 to +3 depending on how many correct options are chosen) with no or limited negative marking. Numerical value questions usually have no negative marking. The exact scheme is published in NTA's official information bulletin each year.
The syllabus covers Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics from the Class 11 and 12 NCERT curriculum, similar in scope to JEE Main but tested with greater conceptual depth and more varied question formats (single correct, multiple correct, numerical value, and matching/paragraph-based questions).
Only candidates who rank within the top qualifying cutoff of JEE Main (Paper 1) in a given year are eligible to register for JEE Advanced. It is the second and final stage of the JEE process used for admission to the IITs.
YourMockTest provides JEE Advanced-style mock tests covering both Paper 1 and Paper 2 question formats, helping candidates practice multiple-correct and numerical-value questions under timed conditions and build the question-selection strategy the exam demands.
