The GATE exam is a 3-hour (180 minutes) computer-based test containing 65 questions. It consists of two sections: General Aptitude (10 questions, 15 marks) and the Core Engineering/Subject Specific section (55 questions, 85 marks).

Yes. For Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs), there is negative marking: 1/3rd mark is deducted for a 1-mark question, and 2/3rd mark is deducted for a 2-mark question. There is no negative marking for Numerical Answer Type (NAT) and Multiple Select Questions (MSQs).
