The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) Grade B Officer exam is one of the most prestigious exams in the banking sector. It aims to recruit candidates for the post of Grade B Officers in General, DEPR, and DSIM streams.
Exam Pattern
The selection process for RBI Grade B (General) consists of three phases:
1. Phase I (Objective)
- Mode: Computer Based Examination (CBT)
- Duration: 120 minutes

- Reasoning (60 marks)

- Quantitative Aptitude (30 marks)
2. Phase II (Objective + Descriptive)

Phase I - Sections
- General Awareness: Banking, Economy, Financial awareness, and Current Affairs of national and international importance.
- Reasoning: Puzzles, Seating arrangement, Input-Output, Blood Relations, Syllogism, Critical Reasoning, etc.
- English Language: Reading Comprehension, Error spotting, Fillers, Cloze test, Para-jumbles, etc.
- Quantitative Aptitude: Data Interpretation, Number Series, Quadratic Equations, Arithmetic topics like Percentage, Profit & Loss, SI & CI, Time & Work, etc.
Marking Scheme (Phase I)
- Correct Answer: +1 Mark
- Negative Marking: -0.25 Marks for each wrong answer.
- Unanswered: 0 Marks.
Preparation Strategy
- Focus on General Awareness: This section has the highest weightage. Read newspapers and monthly financial magazines.
- Master Phase II Topics: Start preparing for ESI and F&M along with Phase I, as they require in-depth knowledge.
- English Writing Skills: For Phase II, practice writing essays and precis regularly.
