The Employees' Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) itself conducts the recruitment exam for the Assistant post (now designated Social Security Assistant), under the Ministry of Labour and Employment. This is separate from the UPSC-conducted EPFO exams for Enforcement Officer/Accounts Officer (EO/AO), Assistant Provident Fund Commissioner (APFC), and Personal Assistant.
The EPFO Assistant Prelims is a 60-minute online exam with 100 questions worth 100 marks, split into three individually-timed sections: English Language (30 questions, 20 minutes), Reasoning Ability (35 questions, 20 minutes), and Numerical Aptitude (35 questions, 20 minutes).
Yes, 0.25 marks (1/4th of the question's marks) are deducted for every wrong answer in the Prelims exam.
No. Prelims is only a qualifying stage — your Prelims score isn't added to the final merit list. Final selection is based on the Mains exam, which adds a General/Financial Awareness section and a descriptive English (typing) test on top of English, Reasoning, and Numerical Aptitude.
