View answer & explanation

Correct answer

Answer: (b)B.

3960

Why this answer is correct

Calculation:

Average of 2 wheeler = (4200 + 5350 + 5800 + 5250 + 5500)/5 = 5220

Average of 4 wheeler = (1080 + 1200 + 1340 + 1550 + 1130)/5 = 1260

Difference = 5220 - 1260 = 3960

∴ The correct answer is 3960.

  1. AOption (a)

    20300

  2. BOption (b)

    2400

  3. COption (c)

    24100

  4. DOption (d)

    25200

View answer & explanation

Correct answer

Answer: (d)D.

25200

Why this answer is correct

Given:

Number of consonants = 7

Number of vowels = 4

Number of consonants to be in each word = 3

Number of vowels to be in each word = 2

Concept used:

The number of ways to select items is given by the combinations formula: C(n, r) = \(\dfrac{\text{n!}}{\text{r!(n-r)!}}\)

The number of ways to arrange items is given by the permutations formula: P(n) = n!

Calculation:

3 consonants can be selected from 7 in 7C3 ways = 35 ways.

2 vowels can be selected from 4 vowels in 4C2 ways = 6 ways.

Since we will have to make words from these 5 (3 consonants and 2 vowels)  letters.

So arrangements of these 5 letters = 5! = 120

Total number of ways = 35× 6 × 120 = 25200 ways.

∴ 25200 words of 3 consonants and 2 vowels can be formed.

Question 179

MP Police ASI 2023• Test

The following table shows the percentage distribution of population of five cities on the basis of marital status.

CityPercentage of population who are marriedRatio of Male of Female
Among marriedAmong unmarried
M ∶ FM ∶ F
P405 ∶ 47 ∶ 9
Q553 ∶ 11 ∶ 3
R354 ∶ 74 ∶ 1
S803 ∶ 55 ∶ 3
T421 ∶ 16 ∶ 5

If in city S, number of married male is 2436 and in city P it is 8130, then find the total population of city P and S together.

  1. AOption (a)

    39655

  2. BOption (b)

    44705

  3. COption (c)

    37415

  4. DOption (d)

    41405

View answer & explanation

Correct answer

Answer: (b)B.

44705

Why this answer is correct

Calculation:

In city S, number of married male is 2436 and in city P it is 8130

Ratio of married people in P 5 : 4

Ratio of married people in S 3 : 5

In S , 3 unit = 2436

1 unit = 812

In P , 5 unit = 8130

1 unit = 1626

Total married people in S = 812 × 8 = 6496

Total married people in P = 1626 × 9 = 14,634

In S, 80% = 6496

In P, 40% = 14634

So, S = 8120 and P = 36585

Total Population of S and P = 8120 + 36585 = 44705

∴ The correct answer is 44705.
