  2. BOption (b)

    10 days

  3. COption (c)

    35 days

  4. DOption (d)

    22 days

View answer & explanation

Correct answer

Answer: (d)D.

22 days

Why this answer is correct

Given:

the number of men(M1) = 550

food last for days(D1) = 28 days

Concept:

total work before and after joining the men will be the same.

Formula used:

M1 × D1= M2 × D2

where M and D represent the number of men and days respectively.

Calculation:

Let the same amount of food be enough for D2 days

Now men(M2) = 550 + 150

⇒ M2 = 700

M1 × D1= M2 × D2

550 × 28 = 700 × D2

⇒ D2 = (550 × 28)/700

⇒ D2 = 15400/700

⇒ D2 = 22 days

Hence, the same amount of food will be enough for 22 days.
