  5. EOption (e)

    96

View answer & explanation

Correct answer

Answer: (c)C.

250

Why this answer is correct

The series follows the following pattern:

351 – 17 = 334

334 – 34 = 300

300 – 51 = 249

249 – 68 = 181

181 – 85 = 96

∴ The wrong term in the series is 250.

Question 493

IBPS RRB Office Assistant (Clerk) 2025• Numerical Ability• Numerical Ability

The ratio of the present ages of two cousins is 2 : 3 and six years back, the ratio was 1 : 3. Find the ratio of the cousins' ages after 8 years?

  1. AOption (a)

    3 : 4

  2. BOption (b)

    4 : 5

  3. COption (c)

    5 : 6

  4. DOption (d)

    4 : 7

  5. EOption (e)

    7 : 8

View answer & explanation

Correct answer

Answer: (b)B.

4 : 5

Why this answer is correct

Given:

The present ages of two cousins = 2 : 3

The ages of the cousins = 1 : 3

Calculation:

Let the present ages of the two Cousins be 2x and 3x respectively.

∴ According to the question:

⇒ (2x – 6)/(3x – 6) = 1/3

⇒ 6x – 18 = 3x – 6

⇒ 3x = 12

⇒ x = 4.

∴ required ratio:

(2x + 8) : (3x + 8)

⇒ 8 + 8 : 12 + 8

⇒ 16 : 20

⇒ 4 : 5.

∴ The ratio of the cousins' ages after 8 years is 4 : 5.

View answer & explanation

Correct answer

Answer: (c)C.

42, 33

Why this answer is correct

Given:

Two candidates appeared at an election. One of them get 9 votes more than the other and his vote was 56% of the sum of their total votes.

Calculation:

Let their votes be (x + 9) and x

Then,  x + 9 = 56/100(x + 9 + x)

⇒ 25 (x + 9) = 14 (2x + 9)

⇒ 3x = 99

⇒ x = 33

∴ Their votes are 42 and 33

Question 495

IBPS RRB Office Assistant (Clerk) 2025• Numerical Ability• Numerical Ability

    Rs. 20,000

  2. BOption (b)

    Rs. 22,000

  3. COption (c)

    Rs. 24,000

  4. DOption (d)

    Rs. 26,000

  5. EOption (e)

    None of these

View answer & explanation

Correct answer

Answer: (c)C.

Rs. 24,000

Why this answer is correct

Given:

Priya’s investments = Rs. 10,400

Shanu’s investment = Rs. 36,400

Raj’s investment = Rs. 31,200

Shanu’s profit share = Rs. 11,200

Formula used:

Profit share = investment × time period

Calculation:

Ratio of investments in business by Priya, Shanu and Raj = 10400 ∶ 36400 ∶ 31200

⇒ 2 ∶ 7 ∶ 6

Let the total profit is 15 unit.

Now Shanu’s profit = 7 unit = Rs. 11,200

⇒ 1 unit = Rs. 1600

Total profit = 15 units = Rs. (15 × 1600)

⇒ Rs. 24,000

∴ Total profit earned by them is Rs. 24,000
