  4. DOption (d)

View answer & explanation

Correct answer

Answer: (c)C.

12,500

Why this answer is correct

Given:

Tarun gives a discount of 30% on the marked price of an article and gained 25% by selling the article for ₹ 8750.

Concept used:

Selling Price = Cost Price × (1 + Gain%)

Selling Price = Marked Price × (1 - Discount%)

Calculation:

As a 30% discount is given,

⇒ MP : SP = 10 : 7

As per the question, at 25% Profit SP is 8750

So we have a value of SP as 7 = 8750

⇒ 7 = 8750

⇒ 1 = 8750/7 = 1250

Hence the MP = 10 × 1250 = 12,500

∴ The marked price of the article is ₹12,500.

Mistake PointsPlease note that here gain percentage is given just to confuse, there is no need for a profit percentage to solve the question.

  3. COption (c)

    ₹5,432

  4. DOption (d)

    ₹6,279

View answer & explanation

Correct answer

Answer: (b)B.

₹3,280

Why this answer is correct

Calculation:

Total amount paid by people who have 2BHK housing

⇒ 1000 × 10

⇒ ₹10,000

Total amount paid by people who have 3BHK housing

⇒ 2000 × 8

⇒ ₹16,000

Total amount paid by people who have 4BHK housing

⇒ 4000 × 4

⇒ ₹16,000

Total amount paid by people who have 5BHK housing

⇒ 10000 × 2

⇒ ₹20,000

Total amount paid by people who have a penthouse

⇒ 20000 × 1

⇒ ₹20,000

Total amount collected = 10,000 + 16,000 + 16,000 + 20,000 + 20,000

⇒ ₹82,000

Now, the average maintenance cost = 82000/(10 + 8 + 4 + 2 + 1)

⇒ ₹3280

∴ The average amount that the residential people would have paid in 1 month is ₹3280.
