Correct answer
90°
Why this answer is correct
Given:
In quadrilateral ABCD,
∠B = 90°
and AB2 + BC2 + CD2 - AD2 = 0.
Concept Used:
In ΔABC, ∠B = 90° Using Pythgoras Theorem
AB2 + BC2 = AC2
Calculation:
Observe the diagram given below carefully,
According to the question,
AB2 + BC2 + CD2 - AD2 = 0
⇒ (AB2 + BC2) + CD2 - AD2 = 0
⇒ (AC2) + CD2 - AD2 = 0 ----(∵ From Pythgoras Theorem, AB2 + BC2 = AC2)
⇒ AC2 + CD2 = AD2 ----(i)
Here, Equation (i) is the Equation form of Pythagoras theorem applied in Δ ACD.
For Equation (i) to hold true, the side AD must be the Hypotenuse of the Δ ACD.
So, the angle opposite to the Hypotenuse i.e. AD must be 90°.
∴ ∠ ACD = 90°.
