• The Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee (MGNREGA) Scheme was launched by the Government of India in 2006 in order to provide guaranteed employment to the unskilled manual labourers for at least 100 days in a year.

• The Tham Luang Cave Rescue Operation was carried out in June-July 2018 in order to rescue 12 members of a junior football team from Thailand along with their assistant coach.
• The team was trapped inside the cave for more than two weeks since heavy rains created a lot of problems in the rescue operation.
• All the members of the team were rescued alive between 08^th and 10^th July 2018 by an international team.
