HTET Level 1 (Primary Teacher, Classes 1-5) is conducted by the Board of School Education Haryana (BSEH), Bhiwani, to certify candidates as eligible to teach in Haryana government primary schools. It is one of three levels of the Haryana Teacher Eligibility Test, alongside Level 2 (TGT) and Level 3 (PGT).
HTET Level 1 has 150 multiple-choice questions across five sections — Child Development & Pedagogy, Languages (Hindi & English), General Studies (Quantitative Aptitude, Reasoning, Haryana GK), Mathematics, and Environmental Studies — to be completed in 150 minutes, with no negative marking.
No, HTET does not have negative marking. Every question should be attempted since there is no penalty for an incorrect answer.
The HTET certificate is valid for a lifetime, so once you clear it, you do not need to reappear to remain eligible for Haryana primary teacher recruitment.
Candidates who have passed Class 12 with at least 50% marks and hold (or are pursuing) a D.El.Ed / B.El.Ed / equivalent teacher training qualification are eligible to appear for HTET Level 1, as per the current NCTE-aligned notification.
