  3. ((c))

    Conservation of angular momentum

  4. ((d))

    Conservation of energy

Show Answer
Answer: ((d))

Conservation of energy

The correct answer is Conservation of energy.

Key Points

  • Bernoulli's principle is derived from the conservation of energy, specifically applied to fluid dynamics.
  • It states that for an incompressible, non-viscous fluid, the total mechanical energy (pressure energy, kinetic energy, and potential energy) remains constant along a streamline.
  • The principle is expressed as: P + ½ρv² + ρgh = constant, where P is pressure, ρ is fluid density, v is fluid velocity, g is gravitational acceleration, and h is height.
  • The conservation of energy ensures that as the velocity of a fluid increases, its pressure decreases, and vice versa, under steady flow conditions.
  • The principle is widely used in applications such as aerodynamics, hydraulics, and engineering designs like airplane wings, venturi meters, and fluid pumps.

Additional Information

  • Streamline: A path followed by fluid particles, where the velocity at every point is tangent to the path.
  • Incompressible Fluid: A fluid with constant density, often assumed in Bernoulli's principle for simplification.
  • Non-viscous Fluid: A fluid with negligible internal friction, ensuring ideal flow conditions for the application of Bernoulli's principle.
  • Applications: Bernoulli's principle explains phenomena like lift in airplane wings, functioning of carburetors, and the operation of venturi tubes.
  • Limitations: The principle does not apply to compressible fluids, turbulent flows, or situations involving significant viscous forces.

  2. ((b))

    105º

  3. ((c))

    100º

  4. ((d))

    90º

Show Answer
Answer: ((c))

100º

Angle: There are two types of angles that are made by the hands of a clock.

1) Internal Angle:- Angle between two needles (Hour and Minute hands of a clock) is less than 180º

  1. External Angle:- Angle between two needles (Hour and Minute hands of a clock) is more than 180º

To find the angle between the hands of the clock,

Angle =  | Hour × 30 - 11 ÷ 2 × Minute |

Given,

Hour = 4

Minute = 40

Substitute the value of Hour and minute in the above formula.

Angle = | 4 × 30 - 11 ÷ 2 × 40 |

Angle = | 120 - 11 × 20 |

Angle = |120 - 220 |

Position of Prateek = 15th from the left

Position of Rahul = 10th from the right

Number of boys between Prateek and Rahul = 5

Total boys in row = 15 + 5 + 10 = 30

Thus, there are 30 boys in the row.

Here, we have not checked for the overlapping condition because all the options are greater than 25 (15 from the left + 10 from the right). So, it is definite that it is not an overlapping condition.

By 1st, 2nd and last equations we come to know that:

Today is coded as "mu" &  A is coded as "Su".

Now in the last equation we can conclude that 'good day' is commonly coded as "da ku".

Now checking all the options one by one for 'Day Was Good':

1) da me mu → Incorrect (ku is not present)

2) su pe ma → Incorrect (da ku both are not present)

3) ku pa da → Correct  (Both ku & da are present)

4) su mu ku → Incorrect (da is not present)

Hence the correct answer is "ku pa da".

Answer: ((c))

600

Given:

A loss of (10\frac{1}{2}%) gets converted into a profit of (11\frac{3}{5}%) when the selling price is increased by Rs. 132.60

Concept used:

SP = CP + CP × Profit%

SP = CP - CP × Loss%

Calculation:

Let CP of the article be 100a

Now,

SP for 1st case = 100a - 100a × (10\frac{1}{2}%)

⇒ 89.5a

SP for 2nd case = 100a + 100a × (11\frac{3}{5}%)

⇒ 111.6a

According to the question,

111.6a - 89.5a = 132.6

⇒ 22.1a = 132.6

⇒ a = 132.6/22.1

⇒ a = 6

So, cost price = 100 × 6

⇒ Rs. 600

∴ The cost price (in Rs.) the article is 600.

Shortcut TrickLoss = 10.5%, Profit = 11.6%

Overall profit increased = 11.6% - (- 10.5%) = 22.1%

22.1% = 132.6

1% = 6

100% = Rs. 600

240 km

Given:

Total time taken = 10 hours

Speed in first half = 30 km/hr

Speed in second half = 20 km/hr

Formula used:

Time = Distance/Speed

Calculation:

Let the total distance covered be 2x km

As, he covered the first half (i.e. x km) with 30 km/hr

Time taken to cover first-half = Distance/Speed = x/30 hours

He covered the second half (i.e. x km) with 20 km/hr

Time taken to cover second half = x/20 hours

Total time taken = 10 hours

⇒ x/30 + x/20 = 10

⇒ 5x/60 = 10

⇒ x = 120

Total distance covered by him = 2x = 2 × 120 = 240 km

∴ Total distance covered by him is 240 km

Answer: ((c))

375

Given:

A dealer sells an article at Rs. 403.20, after offering a discount of 16% on its marked price.

Concept used:

Selling price = Cost price + Cost price × Profit%

Selling price = Marked price - Markes price × Discount%

Calculation:

Marked price = 403.20 × 100/84

⇒ 480

Now if he sell the article at Rs. 480 there would be a profit of 28%

So, Cost price = 480 × 100/128

⇒ Rs. 375

∴ The cost price of the article is Rs. 375

Show Answer
Answer: ((d))

6

Percentage of teachers between 30 – 40 = 28%

Percentage of teachers between 41 – 50 = 24%

After one year, the no. of teachers in the two groups will be equal,

⇒ New percentage = (28 + 24)/2 = 26%

∵ After one year, the teachers with current age of 40 years will leave the group 30 – 40 and be grouped in the age group 41 – 50,

Hence, percentage of teachers with current age of 40 years = 28 – 26 = 2%

Total no. of teachers = 300

∴ No. of teachers with current age of 40 years = 2% of 300 = 6

Two trains of lengths 275 m and 175 m are running on parallel tracks in the same direction. The faster train overtakes the slower train in 54 seconds. If the speed of the slower is 40 km/h, what is the speed of the faster train?

  1. ((a))

    9 km/h

  2. ((b))

    60 km/h

  3. ((c))

    70 km/h

  4. ((d))

    75 km/h

Show Answer
Answer: ((c))

70 km/h

Given:

Length of two train = 275 m and 175 m

Faster train overtake slower train in 54 sec

Speed of the slower train = 40 km/h

Formula used:

Speed = Distance/Time

When two objects moves in same direction

Relative speed = a - b

Where a and b are speed of the objects, a > b

To convert m/s into km/h multiply by 18/5

Calculation:

Total length = 275 + 175 = 450

Let the speed of the faster train be x km/h

Relative speed = x - 40

⇒(\dfrac{450}{54}) = x - 40

⇒ (\dfrac{450}{54} \times \dfrac{18}{5}) = x - 40

⇒ 30 = x - 40

⇒ x = 70 km/h

∴ The speed of the faster train is 70 km/h

Rs. 3000 is divided into two parts such that if one part be put out at 3% simple interest and the other at 5%, the yearly annual income may be Rs. 100. How much was lent at 3%?

  1. ((a))

    Rs. 3000

  2. ((b))

    Rs. 2500

  3. ((c))

    Rs. 3200

  4. ((d))

    Rs. 4000

Show Answer
Answer: ((b))

Rs. 2500

Shortcut Trick

Total average rate of interest = (Total Interest ÷ Total Principal) × 100 = (100 ÷ 3000) × 100 = 10/3%

Using Alligation ratio (Amount at 3% : Amount at 5%):

(5 − 10/3) : (10/3 − 3) = 5/3 : 1/3 = 5 : 1

Amount lent at 3% = (5 ÷ (5+1)) × 3000 = 5/6 × 3000 = 2500

∴ The correct answer is Rs. 2500.

Alternate Method

Given: Total Principal (P) = Rs. 3000, Total Yearly Interest = Rs. 100, Rate 1 (R1) = 3%, Rate 2 (R2) = 5%.

Formula: Simple Interest (SI) = (P × R × T) ÷ 100

Let the amount lent at 3% be x and the amount at 5% be (3000 − x).

⇒ Total Interest = (x × 3 × 1)/100 + ((3000 − x) × 5 × 1)/100 = 100

⇒ 3x + 5(3000 − x) = 100 × 100

⇒ 3x + 15000 − 5x = 10000

⇒ −2x = 10000 − 15000

⇒ −2x = −5000

⇒ x = 5000 ÷ 2 = 2500

∴ The correct answer is Rs. 2500.

Additional Information

Simple Interest Rule

Interest is calculated only on the initial principal. Formula: SI = P×R×T/100, where T is in years.

Alligation in Finance

It is used to find the ratio in which two components with different rates are mixed to get an average rate. Ratio = (Higher Rate − Average Rate) : (Average Rate − Lower Rate).

Effective Interest Rate

The actual rate of return when interest is compounded or when multiple principals are combined: Reff = (Total Interest / Total Principal) × 100.

Show Answer
Answer: ((b))

18 km

Given:

John travels a distance by bike =(\frac{2}{3}^{rd} ) of the total distance

John travels a distance by foot = 6 km

Calculation:

Let us take the total distance traveled be x

John travels a distance by foot  = x - (\frac{2}{3} )x ⇒ (\frac{1}{3} ) x          -----------------------(I)

John travels a distance by foot = 6 km                   -----------------------(ii)

Equating (I) and (ii)

6 = (\frac{1}{3} )x

x = 18 km

∴ The total distance traveled = 18 km

Alternate Method Unitary Method Approach:

Distance travelled by Bike = 2/3

Total Distance = 3 units

That means, 2 units out of 3 units travelled by Bike

Remaining Distance travelled by Foot = 1 unit (given as 6 km)

1 unit = 6 km

3 units = 6 × 3 = 18 km

Answer: ((a))

223608 cm3

Given:

Radius ∶ Height = 77 ∶ 36

Curved surface area = 20570 cm2

Formula used:

Curved surface area of cone = π × R × l

Volume of cone = (1/3) × π × R2 × h

l2 = R2 + h2

Where,

R = Radius of cone

l = Slant height of cone

h = Height of cone

Calculations:

Let the radius and height of the cone be 77x and 36x respectively

⇒ l2 = (77x)2 + (36x)2

⇒ l2 = 5929x2 + 1296x2

⇒ l2 = 7225x2

⇒ l = 85x

Curved surface area = (22/7) × 77x × 85x

⇒ 20570 = 20570x2

⇒ x = 1

Radius = 77 cm, Height = 36 cm, Slant height = 85 cm

Volume of the cone = (1/3) × (22/7) × 772 × 36

⇒ 223608 cm3

∴ The volume of the cone is 223608 cm3

Answer: ((b))

300%

Given:

Side of old cube = 4 cm

Side of new cube = 1 cm

Formula Used:

The volume of cube = (Side)3

Total surface area of cube = 6 × (Side)2

Calculation:

The volume of old cube = 4 × 4 × 4 cm3

The volume of new cube = 1 × 1 × 1 cm3

Number of cubes = (\frac{4 × 4 × 4}{1 × 1 × 1}) = 64 cubes

⇒Total surface area of old cube = 6 × (4)2 = 96 cm2

Total surface area of new cube = 6 × (1)2 = 6 cm2

⇒ Total surface area of 64 new cubes = 64 × 6 = 384 cm2

Difference in area = 384 - 96 = 288 cm2

⇒ % increase = (\frac{288}{96}\times 100 = 300)%

∴ 300% increase in the surface area after such cutting.

Show Answer
Answer: ((a))

2.574kg

Shortcut Trick

Volume of hollow cylinder = π × (R2 − r2) × h

Inner radius (r) = 7 cm, Outer radius (R) = 8 cm, height (h) = 7 cm

Volume = (22/7) × (82 − 72) × 7 = 22 × (64 − 49) = 22 × 15 = 330 cm3

Weight = Volume × Density = 330 × 7.8 = 2574 gm = 2.574 kg

∴ The correct answer is 2.574 kg.

Alternate Method

Given:

Inner diameter = 14 cm ⇒ Inner radius (r) = 7 cm

Outer diameter = 16 cm ⇒ Outer radius (R) = 8 cm

Length (h) = 7 cm

Density = 7.8 gm/cm3

Formula Used:

Volume of material = π × (R2 − r2) × h

Weight = Volume × Density

Calculations:

⇒ Volume = (22/7) × (82 − 72) × 7

⇒ Volume = 22 × (64 − 49)

⇒ Volume = 22 × 15 = 330 cm3

⇒ Weight in gm = 330 × 7.8

⇒ Weight in gm = 2574 gm

⇒ Weight in kg = 2574 / 1000 = 2.574 kg

∴ The correct answer is 2.574 kg.

English Language 1 (20 questions)

Read the following passage and answer the questions given after it.

The Great Barrier Reef is one of the most significant natural wonders in the world. Located off the coast of Australia, it is the largest coral reef system on the planet and stretches for over 2,300 kilometers. The reef is home to a diverse range of marine life, including over 1,500 species of fish and 600 types of coral.

However, the Great Barrier Reef is under threat due to climate change. Rising sea temperatures and ocean acidification caused by the burning of fossil fuels are causing significant damage to the reef. Coral bleaching, a phenomenon where corals expel the colorful algae that live in their tissues, has become more frequent and severe. This process can lead to the death of the coral and the loss of habitat for the many creatures that rely on it.

Efforts to protect the Great Barrier Reef are ongoing. The Australian government has implemented measures such as the Reef 2050 Plan, which aims to improve water quality, reduce carbon emissions, and protect vulnerable species. Additionally, there are various organizations and initiatives working to protect the reef, including research programs and citizen science projects.

141

Where is the Great Barrier Reef located?

  1. ((a))

    Off the coast of Africa

  2. ((b))

    Off the coast of Australia

  3. ((c))

    In the Caribbean Sea

  4. ((d))

    In the Mediterranean Sea

Show Answer
Answer: ((b))

Off the coast of Australia

The correct answer is 'Off the coast of Australia'.

Key Points

  • This information is clearly stated in the first sentence of the passage, which says "The Great Barrier Reef is one of the most significant natural wonders in the world. Located off the coast of Australia, it is the largest coral reef system on the planet and stretches for over 2,300 kilometers."
  • Therefore, the passage clearly indicates that the Great Barrier Reef is located off the coast of Australia, making option 2 the correct answer.

Correct Answer: Off the coast of Australia.

142

What is the Great Barrier Reef?

  1. ((a))

    A river system

  2. ((b))

    A mountain range

  3. ((c))

    A coral reef system

  4. ((d))

    A desert

Show Answer
Answer: ((c))

A coral reef system

The correct answer is 'A coral reef system'.

Key Points

  • The correct answer is 3) A coral reef system.
  • This is stated in the first sentence of the passage, which says "The Great Barrier Reef is one of the most significant natural wonders in the world. Located off the coast of Australia, it is the largest coral reef system on the planet and stretches for over 2,300 kilometers."
  • This sentence provides clear information that the Great Barrier Reef is a "coral reef system", meaning that it is a collection of living coral structures that form a large underwater ecosystem. Therefore, option 3) is the correct answer to this question.
  • Thus, the correct answer is Option 3.

Correct Answer: A coral reef system.

143

What is causing damage to the Great Barrier Reef?

  1. ((a))

    Overfishing

  2. ((b))

    Oil spills

  3. ((c))

    Climate change

  4. ((d))

    Tourists

Show Answer
Answer: ((c))

Climate change

The correct answer is 'Climate change'.

Key Points

  • The passage explains in the second paragraph that the Great Barrier Reef is under threat due to climate change.
  • Rising sea temperatures and ocean acidification caused by the burning of fossil fuels are causing significant damage to the reef. This is particularly concerning because coral reefs are sensitive to changes in temperature and acidity levels, which can lead to coral bleaching and ultimately the death of the coral.
  • Option 1) Overfishing, is not the correct answer because it is not mentioned in the passage as a cause of damage to the Great Barrier Reef. Similarly, option 2) Oil spills, is not mentioned in the passage as a current cause of damage to the Great Barrier Reef.
  • Option 4) Tourists, is not the correct answer because although tourism can have an impact on the reef, it is not identified as a primary cause of damage in the passage. Climate change, on the other hand, is specifically mentioned as a major threat to the Great Barrier Reef.
  • Thus, the correct answer is Option 3.

Correct Answer: Climate change.

144

What is coral bleaching?

  1. ((a))

A phenomenon where corals expel the colorful algae that live in their tissues

  2. ((b))

A process where corals grow new tissue

  3. ((c))

A process where corals turn brown in color

  4. ((d))

    A process where corals reproduce

Show Answer
Answer: ((a))

A phenomenon where corals expel the colorful algae that live in their tissues

The correct answer is 'A phenomenon where corals expel the colorful algae that live in their tissues'.

Key Points

  • The passage explains in the second paragraph that rising sea temperatures caused by climate change can lead to coral bleaching, which is the process of coral turning white due to the loss of algae that live within the coral. The algae provide the coral with food and give it its color, so the loss of these algae can lead to the coral becoming white or pale.
  • Option 2) The process of coral dying, is not the correct answer because while coral bleaching can be a precursor to coral death, it is not the same thing as coral dying. Coral can survive coral bleaching events if the water temperature returns to normal levels before the coral dies.
  • Option 3) The process of coral growing, is not the correct answer because coral bleaching is not a process that contributes to coral growth. Instead, it is a process that can harm or damage existing coral.
  • Option 4) The process of coral reproducing, is not the correct answer because coral bleaching is not a process that is related to coral reproduction. Instead, it is a process that can harm or damage existing coral.
  • Thus, the correct answer is Option 1.

Correct Answer: A phenomenon where corals expel the colorful algae that live in their tissues.

145

What is the Reef 2050 Plan?

  1. ((a))

A plan to build a new resort on the Great Barrier Reef

  3. ((c))

A plan to increase tourism to the Great Barrier Reef

  4. ((d))

A plan to mine for minerals on the Great Barrier Reef

Show Answer
Answer: ((b))

A plan to improve water quality, reduce carbon emissions, and protect vulnerable species

The correct answer is 'A plan to improve water quality, reduce carbon emissions, and protect vulnerable species'.

Key Points

  • The passage explains in the first paragraph that the Great Barrier Reef is one of the most significant natural wonders in the world.
  • It is a unique ecosystem that supports a diverse range of marine life, including many rare and endangered species.
  • The reef also plays an important role in regulating the climate by absorbing carbon dioxide from the atmosphere and releasing oxygen.
  • Let's have a look at the first and second sentences of the third paragraph:
  • *Efforts to protect the Great Barrier Reef are ongoing. The Australian government has implemented measures such as the Reef 2050 Plan, **which aims to improve water quality, reduce carbon emissions, and protect vulnerable species.***
  • Thus, the correct answer is Option 2.

Correct Answer: A plan to improve water quality, reduce carbon emissions, and protect vulnerable species.

Show Answer
Answer: ((b))

have to report to the field

The correct answer is '2' i.e. 'has to report' instead of 'have to report'.

Key Points

  • The subject of the sentence is "Each of the players", which is singular.
  • When the subject is singular, the verb must also be singular to maintain subject-verb agreement.

Additional Information

Wild goose chase

  1. ((a))

    To do something pointless

  2. ((b))

    To hunt wild animals

  3. ((c))

    Going on world tour

  4. ((d))

    Competing fiercely

Show Answer
Answer: ((a))

To do something pointless

The correct answer is 'Option 1'.

Key Points

  • The term "wild goose chase" is an idiom in English that means to engage in a fruitless or pointless pursuit.(बेतुकी खोज)
  • This idiomatic expression has its roots in a type of horse race that used to be popular in the 16th century, called a "wild goose chase", in which the lead rider pursues a zigzag course similar to the flight of geese, with the other riders trying to follow in exactly the same path.
  • For example:  "Searching for a needle in a haystack is like a wild goose chase".
  • Likewise, "to do something pointless", which is the first option, also indicates carrying out an activity or endeavour that has no purpose or potential for success.(बेमानी करना)

Therefore, the correct answer is: 'To do something pointless'.

Additional Information

  • Option 2: "To hunt wild animals" ("जंगली जानवरों का शिकार करना") is incorrect, as it denotes an activity that, while potentially difficult, is not necessarily pointless.
  • Option 3: "Going on a world tour" ( "दुनिया भर की सैर करना") is also not appropriate. A world tour can have a lot of purposes like exploration, relaxation etc., and hence is not pointless as the idiom "wild goose chase".
  • Option 4: "Competing fiercely" ( "प्रतिस्पर्धा करना") is usually done with a specific goal in mind, such as winning a prize or gaining recognition, again it does not align with the meaning of "wild goose chase"

If you are replying to an email, which of the following fields are automatically filled in?

  1. ((a))

    Both "To" and "From" fields

  2. ((b))

    Only "From" field

  3. ((c))

Neither "To" field nor "From" field

  4. ((d))

    only "To" field

Show Answer
Answer: ((a))

Both "To" and "From" fields

The correct answer is Option (1).

Key PointsWhen you reply, the recipient's email address will automatically appear in the To: field, so you won't need to worry about choosing the recipient.

Replying only to the sender

Sometimes you'll receive emails where you're not the only recipient, and you'll need to decide whether you want to reply just to the person who sent the message or reply to all (the sender and all recipients). For example, if you're collaborating with a group of people via email, you'll probably want to use the Reply to all option so everyone gets the message. However, if you want to send a more private message to the sender, you'll need to select the Reply option so the message stays between the two of you.

Replying to all

Additional Information

To reply to an email message:

  1. While viewing the message, click Reply at the bottom of the message. If the message was sent to multiple recipients, you will also have the option to Reply to all. You can also click the Reply arrow to respond to the message.

Replying to an email 2. You may want to double-check the To: and Cc: fields to make sure you're sending your message to the correct people. If you are replying to all recipients, the additional recipients will appear in the Cc: field. 3. Type your message in the Body field, then click Send.

Sending a reply 4. To see the text of the original email while you're replying, click the gray button in the lower-left corner of the window, right above the Send button.

What 2 documents are required in a mail merge?

  1. ((a))

    Address and template

  2. ((b))

    Shared Document and Fixed Document

  3. ((c))

    From Document and To Document

  4. ((d))

    Main document and data source

Show Answer
Answer: ((d))

Main document and data source

The correct answer is Main document and data source.

Key Points

  • A mail merge is a process to create personalized letters, emails, labels, or envelopes by combining a main document with a data source.
  • The main document contains the text and graphics that are the same for each version of the merged document.
  • The data source contains the information that varies for each version of the merged document, such as names and addresses.

Additional Information

  • Address and template: This option is incorrect because while you do need addresses (data source), the term "template" is not the standard term used in mail merge. The correct term is "main document".
  • Shared Document and Fixed Document: This option is incorrect because these terms do not relate to the mail merge process. "Shared Document" and "Fixed Document" are not standard terminology in the context of mail merge.
  • From Document and To Document: This option is incorrect as it does not accurately describe the components involved in a mail merge. "From Document" and "To Document" are not used in mail merge terminology.

Key Points

  • Registers are considered to be special-purpose memory residing within the CPU.
  • Registers
  • It is the smallest and fastest memory in a computer.
  • It is not a part of the main memory.
  • It temporarily holds frequently used data, instructions, and memory addresses that are to be used by CPU.
  • All data is required to pass through registers before it can be processed.

Important Points

  • DRAM
  • It stands for Dynamic Random Access Memory.
  • It is a specific type of RAM.
  • It makes use of a capacitor and stores every bit of data on the different 2 capacitor.
  • It is the most efficient way to store data as the space required for the storage of data is less as compared to the static RAM.
  • SRAM
  • It is Static Random Access Memory.
  • It holds data in a static form, that is, as long as the memory has power.
  • Because of the continuous power, it doesn’t need to be refreshed to remember the data being stored.
  • SDRAM
  • Synchronous DRAM is a generic name for various kinds of dynamic random access memory that are synchronized with the clock speed that the microprocessor is optimized for.
  • It can run at faster speeds than conventional DRAM.
