Overview
The State Bank of India Clerk (Junior Associates - Customer Support & Sales) exam is one of the most popular banking recruitment examinations in India. Conducted by SBI, this recruitment places successful candidates in clerical roles across various branches of the State Bank of India.
Eligibility at a Glance:
- Age: 20–28 years (relaxation: SC/ST +5, OBC +3, PwD +10 years)
- Education: Graduation in any discipline from a recognized university.
- Local Language: Candidates must be proficient in the local language of the state applied for.
Selection Process
The selection process consists of two online examinations:
- Stage 1: Preliminary Examination (Qualifying)
- Stage 2: Main Examination (Merit-based)
Following the Main examination, a Language Proficiency Test (LPT) is conducted for candidates who do not have proof of studying the local language.
Stage 1 — Preliminary Exam
The Preliminary exam is an objective test of 100 marks with sectional timings.

Reasoning Ability
- Puzzles, Seating Arrangements, Inequality, Syllogism, Blood Relations, Coding-Decoding, Directions, Input-Output.
Computer Aptitude
- Basic computer hardware and software, MS Office suite, Networking, Internet protocols, Cybersecurity basics, Banking technology.
General/Financial Awareness
- Current Affairs (past 6 months), Banking Terminology, RBI Policy, Government Schemes, Financial institutions (SEBI, NABARD, etc.), Economy updates.
Preparation Strategy
- Master Calculations: Practice Vedic math and mental arithmetic daily to solve Simplification and Approximation questions within seconds.
- Focus on Speed: Clerical exams require solving 100 questions in 60 minutes. Use sectional tests to improve timing and speed.
