Phase-Wise Preparation Strategy
Phase 1 (Months 1–2): Foundation
- Complete all Reasoning puzzle types using Oliveboard or Adda247 topic-wise sets.
- Revise Arithmetic fundamentals — do NOT skip Boats & Streams or Mixtures.
- Read RBI's "Monetary Policy Report" and Banking Awareness capsule from a trusted source.
Phase 2 (Months 3–4): Speed & Mock Tests
- Take at least 2 sectional mock tests per day (rotating between Reasoning, QA, and English).
- Focus on DI — solve 5 complete DI sets every day. This is the highest-scoring area in Mains.
- Begin English descriptive practice — write 1 letter and 1 essay per week and get feedback.
Phase 3 (Final Month): Full-Length Mocks + Revision
- Take 3 full-length Mains mock tests per week.
- Maintain an Error Log: note every wrong answer and its correct concept. Review weekly.
- Stop new topics. Revise Banking Awareness capsule and current affairs daily.
Subject-Wise Tips
Reasoning — Puzzles Are King: In recent years, 60–70% of Reasoning marks come from puzzles. Practice multi-variable puzzles (e.g., 5 people × 3 attributes: floor, car, city) daily. Aim for 100% accuracy on puzzles even if it means spending more time.
Quant — DI Over Arithmetic: The Mains paper is dominated by Data Interpretation. A student who can solve 4 DI sets accurately can outscore someone who attempts all arithmetic questions with errors.
English Descriptive — Structure Matters: IBPS evaluates letter writing on: correct format (sender address, date, subject, salutation, body, complimentary close), coherent argument, and grammar. Practise formal complaint letters, letters to the editor, and job application letters.
Banking Awareness — Stay Current: Check RBI press releases monthly. Key topics: Repo Rate, Reverse Repo, CRR, SLR, Inflation data, Bank Nifty performance, major government schemes (PM Jan Dhan, PM Mudra Yojana).
