Sneha is twice as efficient as Kailash and together they do the same work in as much time as taken by Chaman and Axay together. In how many days Kailash can individually ?

  1. ((a))

    10 days

  2. ((b))

    5 days

  3. ((c))

    15 days

  4. ((d))

    20 days

Show Answer
Answer: ((d))

20 days

Given:

Sneha is twice as efficient as Kailash

Concept Used:

Total work done = efficiency × time

Calculation:

The time taken by Chaman is 10 days

The time taken by Axay is 20 days

Total work = LCM of (10, 20) = 20 units

The efficiency of Chaman = 20/10 = 2 units/day

The efficiency of Axay = 20/20 = 1 unit/day

Both Chaman and Axay can do the work in = 20/(2 + 1) = 20/3 days

According to the question,

The efficiency of Sneha = 2, and Kailash = 1

So, Kailash can do the same work in = 20/1 = 20 days

∴ The correct answer is option 4

7

What is the total time taken to complete the work if all of them work together?

  1. ((a))

    29/40 days

  2. ((b))

    40/29 days

  3. ((c))

    80/29 days

  4. ((d))

    29/80 days

Show Answer
Answer: ((c))

80/29 days

Concept Used:

Total work done = efficiency × time

Calculation:

The total work done = LCM of (15, 10, 20, 12, 16) = 240 units

The efficiency of Rakesh = 240/15 = 16 units/day

The efficiency of Chaman = 240/10 = 24 units/day

The efficiency of Axay = 240/20 = 12 units/day

The efficiency of Ramesh = 240/12 = 20 units/day

The efficiency of Mahesh = 240/16 = 15 units/day

Together, all of them can do the work in

⇒  240/(16 + 24 + 12 + 20 + 15)

⇒ 240/87 = 80/29 days

∴ The correct answer is option 3.

8

Which of the following groups take minimum time to complete the work?

  1. ((a))

    Chaman and Ramesh

  2. ((b))

    Rakesh and Axay

  3. ((c))

    Axay and Ramesh

  4. ((d))

    Chaman and Axay

Show Answer
Answer: ((a))

Chaman and Ramesh

Concept Used:

Total work done = efficiency × time

Calculation:

The total work done = LCM of (15, 10, 20, 12, 16) = 240 units

The efficiency of Rakesh = 240/15 = 16 units/day

The efficiency of Chaman = 240/10 = 24 units/day

The efficiency of Axay = 240/20 = 12 units/day

The efficiency of Ramesh = 240/12 = 20 units/day

The efficiency of Mahesh = 240/16 = 15 units/day

Taking option 1,

Together Chaman and Ramesh can do the work in

⇒ 240/(24 + 20) = 240/44 = 60/11 ≈ 5.45 days

Taking option 2,

Together Rakesh and Axay can do the work in

⇒ 240/(16 + 12) = 240/28 = 60/7 ≈ 8.57 days

Taking option3,

Together Axay and Ramesh can do the work in

⇒ 240/(12 + 20) = 240/22 = 120/11 ≈ 10.9 days

Taking option 4,

Together Chaman and Axay can do the work in

⇒ 240/(24 + 12) = 240/36 = 20/3 ≈ 6.66 days

∴ Chaman and Ramesh will take the minimum number of days to finish the work.

After working for 5 days Rakesh is joined by Axay. If they complete the remaining work in 5 more days, in how many days can Axay alone complete the work?"

  1. ((a))

    10 days

  2. ((b))

    5 days

  3. ((c))

    15 days

  4. ((d))

    20 days

Show Answer
Answer: ((c))

15 days

Given:

After working for 5 days Rakesh is joined by Axay

They complete the remaining work in 5 more days

Concept Used:

Total work done = efficiency × time

Calculation:

Rakesh can do the work in 15 days

Let, the total work is 15 units

So, the efficiency of Rakesh = 15/15 = 1 unit/day

In 5 days Rakesh will do = 5 × 1 = 5 units of work

Remaining work = 15 - 5 = 10 units

Now, Axay joined him, and the remaining work to be done by them together

Let, the efficiency of Axay = a unit/day

According to the question,

(1 + a) × 5 = 10

⇒ 1 + a = 2

⇒ a = 1

So, Axay alone can do the work in 15/1 = 15 days

∴ The correct answer is option 3

10

Chaman and Axay started the work jointly. A few days later Mihir also joined them and thus all of them completed the whole work in 5 days. All of them were paid total ₹3,000. What is the share of Mihir ?

  1. ((a))

    ₹600

  2. ((b))

    ₹500

  3. ((c))

    ₹700

  4. ((d))

    ₹750

Show Answer
Answer: ((d))

₹750

Given:

All of them completed the whole work in 5 days

All of them were paid a total ₹3,000

Concept Used:

Work done = efficiency × time

Calculation:

Let, the total work is 100 units

Efficiency of Chaman  = 100/10 = 10 units/day

Efficiency of Axay = 100/20 = 5 units/day

In 5 days work done by Chaman = 10 × 5 = 50 units

In 5 days work done by Axay = 5 × 5 = 25 units

Remaining work = 100 - (50 + 25) = 25 units, is done by Mihir

The ratio of work done by Chaman, Axay, and Mihir = 2 : 1 : 1

Mihir will receive = 3000 × 1/4 = Rs. 750

∴ The correct answer is option 4

Show Answer
Answer: ((d))

1680

Given:

The ratio of the total persons who are doing their jobs in the year 2018 and 2021 is 3 ∶ 5

The total Indians in the Gulf in 2021 are 4400

Calculation:

The percentage of Indians in Gulf in 2021 is 27.5%

So, the total persons doing jobs in Gulf in 2021 = 100 × 4400/27.5 = 16000

In 2018, total persons doing their jobs = 16000 × 3/5 = 9600

The percentage of Nepal people doing their job in 2018 = 17.5%

Total Nepal people in 2018 = 9600 × 17.5/100 = 1680

∴ The correct answer is option 4

12

Given:

The total Afghanistan people in the year 2018 is 2340

The ratio of Afghanistan people in the years 2018 and 2019 is 45 ∶ 88

Calculation:

The total people in Gulf in 2018 = 100 × 2340/25 = 9360

In 2019 Afganistan people = 88 × 2340/45 = 4576

So, in 2019 total people in Gulf = 100 × 4576/40 = 11440

The total number of people in 2018 & 2019 together = 9360 + 11440 = 20800

∴ The correct answer is option 1

Show Answer
Answer: ((c))

Rs. 800

Given:

The cost price of the Ring is 30% more than the cost price of Shirt

The shopkeeper wants to earn 25% after giving 35% discount

Concept Used:

Selling price (SP) = CP × (100 + P)/100

Selling price (SP) = MP × (100 - D)/100

Where, CP = cost price, P = profit percentage, D = discount percentage, MP = marked price

Calculation:

The cost price of the ring = 320 × (100 + 30)/100 = Rs. 416

The shopkeeper wants to earn 25% profit, so,

SP should be = 416 × (100 + 25)/100 = Rs. 520

But he wants to give 35% discount on MP

So, MP = 100 × 520/(100 - 35) = Rs. 800

∴ The correct answer is option 3.

Show Answer
Answer: ((d))

₹47.75

Given:

The shopkeeper sold 2 Shirts, 3 Eye-glasses, 2 Pants, and 1 Book to a customer

Concept Used:

Profit earned = CP × P/100

Where, CP = cost price, P = profit percentage

Calculation:

Profit earned on selling 2 shirts = 2 × 320 × 15/100 = Rs 96

Profit earned on selling 3 eyeglasses = 3 × 200 × 25/100 = Rs. 150

Profit earned on selling 2 pants = 2 × 450 × 12/100 = Rs. 108

Profit earned on selling 1 book = 140 × 20/100 = Rs. 28

Total profit earned = 96 + 150 + 108 + 28 = Rs. 382

Total items sold = 2 + 3 + 2 + 1 = 8

The average profit earned = 382/8 = Rs. 47.75

∴ The correct answer is option 4.

  3. ((c))

    65.9

  4. ((d))

Show Answer
Answer: ((c))

65.9

Given:

Sneha purchased 1 Shirt, 2 Bags, and 1 pant, and shopkeeper gave a 5% additional discount on the marked price

Concept Used:

Selling price (SP) = CP × (100 + P)/100

Selling price (SP) = MP × (100 - D)/100

MP = SP + discounted amount

Calculation:

For 1 shirt bought,

SP of the shirt = 320 × (100 + 15)/100 = Rs. 368

MP of the shirt = 368 + 96 = Rs. 464

An additional 5% discount is given on MP

Now, MP = 464 × (100 - 5)/100 = Rs. 440.8

New SP = 440.8 - 96 = Rs. 344.8

So, profit earned = 344.8 - 320 = Rs. 24.8 →(1)

For 2 bags bought,

SP of the bag = 230 × (100 + 10)/100 = Rs. 253

MP of the bag = 253 + 48 = Rs. 301

An additional 5% discount is given on MP

Now, MP = 301 × (100 - 5)/100 = Rs. 285.95

New SP = 285.95 - 48 = Rs. 237.95

So, profit earned on 2 bags = 2 × (237.95 - 230) = 2 × 7.95 = Rs. 15.9 →(2)

For 1 pant bought,

SP of the pant = 450 × (100 + 12)/100 = Rs. 504

MP of the pant = 504 + 72 = Rs. 576

An additional discount of 5% is given

Now, MP =  576 × (100 - 5)/100 = Rs. 547.2

New SP = 547.2 - 72 = Rs. 475.2

So, profit earned = 475.2 - 450 = Rs. 25.2 →(3)

Total profit of the shopkeeper = 24.8 + 15.9 + 25.2 = Rs. 65.9

∴ The approximate total profit of the shopkeeper is Rs. 65.9.

Marked price of Eye-glass is approximately how much percent more than the marked price of Book?

  1. ((a))

    50%

  2. ((b))

    56.59%

  3. ((c))

    87.15%

  4. ((d))

    62.19%

Show Answer
Answer: ((b))

56.59%

Concept Used:

Selling price (SP) = CP × (100 + P)/100

Marked price = SP + discount amount

Where, CP = cost price, P = profit percentage, SP = selling price

Calculation:

SP of eyeglasses = 200 × (100 + 25)/100 = Rs. 250, where a discount of Rs. 35 is given

So, MP of eyeglasses = 250 + 35 =Rs. 285

SP of book = 140 × (100 + 20)/100 = Rs. 168, where a discount of Rs. 14 is given

So, MP of the bok = 168 + 14 = Rs. 182

MP of eyeglasses - MP of book = 285 - 182 = Rs. 103

MP of eyeglasses is = 100 × 103/182 ≈ 56.59% more than MP of book

∴ The correct answer is option 2.

20

What is the ratio of the discount percent of the Eye-glasses and Book sold by shopkeeper ?

  1. ((a))

    91 ∶ 57

  2. ((b))

    25 ∶ 16

  3. ((c))

    57 ∶ 91

  4. ((d))

    16 ∶ 25

Show Answer
Answer: ((a))

91 ∶ 57

Concept Used:

Discount percentage = 100 × D/MP

Where, D = discounted amount, and MP = marked price

Calculation:

Selling Price of eyeglasses = 200 × (100 + 25)/100 = Rs. 250

MP of eyeglasses = 250 + 35 = Rs. 285

Discount percentage on eyeglasses = 100 × 35/285

Selling price of book = 140 × (100 + 20)/100 = Rs. 168

MP of book = 168 + 14 = Rs. 182

Discount percentage on book = 100 × 14/182

The ratio of discount percent of eyeglasses to book is

⇒ {100 × 35/285} : {100 × 14/182}

⇒ {35/285} : {14/182} = 91 : 57

∴ The correct option is option 1.

  4. ((d))

    ₹212.225 crores

Show Answer
Answer: ((d))

₹212.225 crores

Calculation:

Total advertising expenditure for 2019-20 = 50 + 75 + 50 + 50 = 225 crores

Total advertising expenditure for 2020-21 = 75 + 50 + 100 + 25 = 250 crores

Total Expenditure Growth = [(250 - 225) / 225] × 100% = 11.11%

Estimated Expenditure (2021-22) = 250 + (250 × 11.11/100) = 277.78 crores (approx.)

Estimated Sales (2021-22) = 700 - (700 × 30/100) = 490 crores

Estimated Profit (2021-22) = 490 - 277.78 = 212.225 crores (approx.)

∴ The approximate profit for the company in 2021-22 is 212.225 crores.

Answer: ((c))

2020-21

Calculation:

The advertising expenditure of P and R together for each year:

YearP + R
2016 - 1650 + 50 = 100
2016 - 1725 + 50 = 75
2017 - 1850 + 75 = 125
2018 - 1975 + 0 = 75
2019 - 2050 + 50 = 100
2020 - 2175 + 100 = 175

The advertising expenditure of S as a percentage of P and R together for each year:

YearS/(P + R)
2016 - 1625/100 = 25%
2016 - 1725/75 = 33.33%
2017 - 1825/125 = 20%
2018 - 1925/75 = 33.33%
2019 - 2050/100 = 50%
2020 - 2125/175 = 14.29%

∴  Among the given years, the advertising expenditure of product S as a percentage of advertising expenditure of P and R together is lowest in the year 2020 - 21.

Profit = Sales - Advertising expenditure

Calculation:

Find the profit of each product in 2020-21

From the table and the given information, we know the advertisement expenditure and total sales for the year 2020-21. Profit can be found using the following

ProductAdvertisement ExpenditureSalesProfit
P75(2/10) × 700 = 14065
Q50(5/10) × 700 = 350300
R100(1/10) × 700 = 70-30 (Loss)
S25(2/10) × 700 = 140115

The ratio of the profit of S and Q =115/300 × 100 = 38.33%

∴ The profit of S is approximately 38.33% of the profit of Q in the year 2020-21.

    Length

  3. ((c))

Inversely on its area of cross-section

  4. ((d))

    Humidity of the conductor

Show Answer
Answer: ((d))

Humidity of the conductor

The correct answer is Humidity of the conductor

Key Points

Resistance: The property of any conductor that opposes the flow of electric current through it is called resistance.

  • It is denoted by R and the SI unit is the ohm (Ω).

The resistance is given by:

R = ρL/A

where ρ is resistivity, L is the length and A is the area of the cross-section.

EXPLANATION:

According to the above formula of the resistance:

  • The resistance of a conductor is directly proportional to its length.
  • It is inversely proportional to the area of the conductor. Thickness decides the area.
  • Resistivity, a characteristic property of the conductor also determines the resistance. It depends on the nature of the material of the conductor.

Additional Information

Resistance in series:

  • When resistors are connected end-to-end in a circuit, they are said to be in "series."
  • R = R1 + R2 + R3....
  • Current remains the same across all the resistors connected in series.

Resistance in parallel:

The gap between two neurons in the Human Brain is known by which of the following name?

  1. ((a))

    Synapse

  2. ((b))

    Axon

  3. ((c))

    Dendrite

  4. ((d))

    Impulse

Show Answer
Answer: ((a))

Synapse

The correct answer is Synapse.

Key Points

  • It is a tiny space that separates the axon terminal of one neuron from the dendrites or cell body of another neuron.
  • Synapses are the sites where communication between neurons takes place.
  • Neurons communicate with each other by releasing chemicals called neurotransmitters into the synapse.
  • Neurotransmitters diffuse across the synapse and bind to receptors on the dendrites or cell body of the postsynaptic neuron.
  • This binding triggers a change in the electrical activity of the postsynaptic neuron.
  • The strength of a synapse can be changed by the frequency of use. This is known as synaptic plasticity. Synaptic plasticity is essential for learning and memory.

Additional Information

  • Neurons:
  • Neurons are the basic units of the nervous system. They are responsible for receiving, processing, and transmitting information.
  • Dendrites:
  • Dendrites are short, branching extensions that reach out from the cell body.
  • They receive signals from other neurons and transmit them to the cell body.
  • Axon:
  • The axon is a long, slender extension that carries signals away from the cell body.
  • Impulse:
  • Electrical signal that travels along an axon, carrying information from one neuron to another.
  • Created by the movement of ions across the axon membrane.
  • Travels in one direction only, from the cell body to the axon terminals.

    56.5 kg

  3. ((c))

    56 kg

  4. ((d))

Show Answer
Answer: ((a))

57 kg

Given:

Geeta's opinion: > 55 kg and < 62 kg

Geeta's mother's opinion: > 50 kg and < 60 kg

Geeta's brother's opinion: ≤ 58 kg

Formula used:

Average = Sum of all values / Number of values

Calculation:

Combining all opinions, we find the common weight range:

It should be more than 55 kg to satisfy Geeta's opinion.

It should be less than 58 kg to satisfy her brother's, which also agrees with her mother's view.

Thus, the probable weights are more than 55 kg and less than or equal to 58 kg.

So, the weights can be 56 kg, 57 kg, and 58 kg.

Sum of weights = 56 + 57 + 58 = 171 kg

Number of values = 3

Average weight = 171/3 = 57 kg

∴ The average of different probable weights of Geeta is 57 kg.

Read the following paragraph and answer the following questions:

The State Emblem is an adaptation of the Lion Capital of Asoka at Sarnath. In the original, there are four lions, mounted back-to-back, on a circular abacus, which itself rests on a bell- shaped lotus. The frieze of the abacus has sculptures in high relief of an elephant, a galloping horse, a bull and a lion separated by intervening Dharma Chakras. The profile of the Lion Capital showing three lions mounted on the abacus with a Dharma Chakra in the centre, a bull on the right and a galloping horse on the left, and outlines of Dharma Chakras on the extreme right and left was adopted as the State Emblem of India on January 26, 1950. The bell-shaped lotus was omitted. The motto Satyameva Jayate, which means 'Truth Alone Triumphs', written in Devanagari script below the profile of the Lion Capital is part of the State Emblem of India.

  2. ((b))

    19712\frac{1}{2}

  3. ((c))

    16712\frac{1}{2}

  4. ((d))

    15712\frac{1}{2}

Show Answer
Answer: ((b))

19712\frac{1}{2}

Formula to calculate angle = (11M/2) - 30H

Where, M = minute and H = hour

So, Angle when the time is 10:25

⇒ (11 x 25/2) - 30 x 10

⇒  13712\frac{1}{2} - 300

⇒ 16212\frac{1}{2}

Reflex Angle = 360 - 16212\frac{1}{2} = 19712\frac{1}{2}

Hence, the correct answer is "19712\frac{1}{2}"

Pick the odd one out :

  1. ((a))

    161, 207, 299, 347

  2. ((b))

    189, 243, 351, 405

  3. ((c))

    175, 225, 325, 375

  4. ((d))

    217, 279, 403, 465

Show Answer
Answer: ((a))

161, 207, 299, 347

Logic followed here is,

Difference between 1st and 2nd number = Difference between 3rd and 4th number = 2 × Difference between 2nd and 3rd number.

(1) 161, 207, 299, 347

 207 - 161 = 46

347 - 299 = 48

299 - 207 = 92

(2) 189, 243, 351, 405

243 - 189 = 54

405 - 351 = 54

351 - 243 = 108 = 2 × 54

(3) 175, 225, 325, 375

225 - 175 = 50

375 - 325 = 50

325 - 225 = 100 = 2 × 50

(4) 217, 279, 403, 465

279 - 217 = 62

465 - 403 = 62

403 - 279 = 124 = 2 × 62

As we can see Option (1) does not follow the logic.

Hence, 161, 207, 299, 347 is odd one out.
