Rs.300
Given:
A person sold an article and got a loss of 9%.
If he sold it for ₹51 more, he would gain 8%.
Calculations:
Let the Cost Price (C.P) be x.
Selling Price (S.P) at 9% loss = x - 0.09x = 0.91x
Selling Price (S.P) at 8% gain = x + 0.08x = 1.08x
According to the question:
1.08x - 0.91x = 51
1.08x - 0.91x = 51
0.17x = 51
x = 51 / 0.17
x = 300
∴ The Cost Price (C.P) is ₹300.
