The total number of mobile phones in each of the shops is greater than the total number of laptops.
| Shops | Average of laptops and Mobile phones | Difference between laptops and mobile phones |
|---|
| A | 55 | 20 |
| B | 55 | 10 |
| C | 80 | 40 |
| D | 70 | 30 |
For shop A:
Average of laptops and phone = (Laptops + Mobile Phones)/2
So,
55 x 2 = Laptops + Mobile Phones
So,
Laptops + Mobile phones = 110................................... (1)
Also, it is given that,
Mobile phones - Laptops = 20...................................... (2)
Adding both equations,
2 x Mobile Phones = 130
So,
Mobile phones = 65
Put this in equation (2),
65 - Laptops = 20
So,
the number of laptops = 65 - 20 = 45.
For shop B:
Average of laptops and phone = (Laptops + Mobile Phones)/2
So,
55 x 2 = Laptops + Mobile Phones
So,
Laptops + Mobile phones = 110................................... (3)
Also, it is given that,
Mobile phones - Laptops = 10...................................... (4)
Adding both equations,
2 x Mobile Phones = 120
So,
Mobile phones = 60
Put this in equation (4),
60 - Laptops = 10
So,
the number of laptops = 60 - 10 = 50.
For shop C:
Average of laptops and phone = (Laptops + Mobile Phones)/2
So,
80 x 2 = Laptops + Mobile Phones
So,
Laptops + Mobile phones = 160................................... (5)
Also, it is given that,
Mobile phones - Laptops = 40...................................... (6)
Adding both equations,
2 x Mobile Phones = 200
So,
Mobile phones = 100
Put this in equation (6),
100 - Laptops = 40
So,
the number of laptops = 100 - 40 = 60.
For shop D:
Average of laptops and phone = (Laptops + Mobile Phones)/2
So,
70 x 2 = Laptops + Mobile Phones
So,
Laptops + Mobile phones = 140................................... (7)
Also, it is given that,
Mobile phones - Laptops = 30...................................... (8)
Adding both equations,
2 x Mobile Phones = 170
So,
Mobile phones = 85
Put this in equation (8),
85 - Laptops = 30
So,
the number of laptops = 85 - 30 = 55.
From the above data:
| Shops | Total number of mobile phones | Total number of Laptops |
|---|
| A | 65 | 45 |
| B | 60 | 50 |
| C | 100 | 60 |
| D | 85 | 55 |

The total number of mobile phones in shop E is 20% more than the total number of mobile phones in shop D,
So the total number of mobile phones in shop E = 1.2 x 85 = 102.
The total number of laptops in shop E is 10% less than the total number of laptops in shop C,
So the total number of laptops in shop E = 0.9 x 60 = 54.
Hence the difference between the total number of laptops and mobile phones sold in shop E is 102 - 54 = 48.
