Postulate:- It is a statement that is based on assumptions and proved to be correct.

A postulate is an assumption that is an essential prerequisite for carrying out some operations or line of thinking. In this case, it is an assumption about the relations between the objects being measured.
The three postulates that are basic to measurement are as follows.
a) Either (a=b) or (a ≠ b) but not both. This postulate says a is either equal to b or not equal to b, but not to both. We must be able to assert, either that one object is the same in a characteristic as another, or, it is not the same.
b) If (a=b) and (b=c) then (a=c): This postulate says, “If a equals b, and b equals c, then a equals c. If one member, of a universe, is the same as another member, and the second member is the same as the third member, then the first member is the same as the third member.
c) If (a>b) and (b>c) then (a>c). The third postulate is of more immediate and practical importance for our purpose. It says “If a is greater than b, and b is greater than c, then a is greater than c. Other symbols or words can be substituted for greater than (>) less than (<), such as, is at a greater distance, that is stronger than, and so on.

Hence, we can conclude that Postulate is one that cannot be accepted but it has been proved.
