Read the following passage and answer the question.
There are four basic stages that human beings pass through when they enter and live in a new culture. The first stage begins when we arrive in a new culture and find everything thrilling and exciting. We may be suffering from jet lag but our excitement is high at discovering new sights, new sounds and language, eating new kinds of food served very differently and breathing new air! This honeymoon phase can last for a long time as we feel ourselves to be in some kind of great adventure. Unfortunately, the culture shock sets in during the second phase which may be more difficult. After we have settled down in our new life. working or studying, buying groceries, doing laundry, we can become very tired and begin to miss our family, friends and pets. Suddenly, the everyday problems also appear bigger and more disturbing in a foreign culture. This period of cultural adjustment can be quite difficult and may lead to rejecting or pulling away from the foreign culture. This stage may be quite dangerous because one may develop stress leading to unhealthy habits of smoking or drinking. Thus, this stage is considered a crisis in the process of cultural adjustment and many choose to return to their homeland or spend all their time with people from their own culture speaking their native language.
The third stage is called the 'adjustment stage'. This is when you realise that things are not so bad in the host culture. You learn to accept things more openly and learn to take care of yourself. Things are still difficult but you are now a survivor!
The fourth stage may be called 'ease at last'. Now you feel quite comfortable in your new surroundings. You can cope with most of your problems. Although the langauage problem persists, you have learnt how to deal with it. If you meet someone from your country who has just arrived, you can guide him like an expert on life in the new culture and help him to deal with the culture shock.
Interestingly, there is another stage called the 'reverse culture shock' which many people do not know about. This occurs when you go back to your native culture and find that you have changed and things there have changed too while you were away. Now, you feel slightly uncomfortable back home and wish to return to the new culture. Life's like that!
Why is the first phase referred to as the honeymoon phase?
It is full of anxiety at leaving the native place.
There is fun and excitement at making a new beginning.
It is a period of relaxation and no work.
There are no responsibilities or restraints of any kind.
It is full of anxiety at leaving the native place.
Which of these CANNOT be attributed to the crisis stage?
Restricting social contact with people from native culture
Extreme stress and anxiety leading to unhealthy habits
Complete rejection of the new culture
A feeling of comfort and ease in the new surroundings
Restricting social contact with people from native culture
What quality can make one a survivor in a new culture?
Excitement
Compassion
Perseverance
Communication
Excitement
You can guide newcomers as an expert because you have:

Which of these statements is NOT true?

All who are in the crisis phase return to their homeland.
One learns to handle situations as one adjusts to the new culture.
One may feel uncomfortable back home after staying in a foreign culture.
